Meet Elizabeth Harrington

Always learning, always growing, always exploring new and innovative ways to engage others  to believe in their world of possibilites… I believe that inspiring others to look at this next "middle " stage of life as something to embrace not fear. This "middle "stage can be a wonderful time of adventure- a time of developing that dragon spirit within, a spirit of renewal and re-invention. I believe this is the time to become  the person you have always longed to be. Youth is not a time of freedom…would you return to your teens or 20's knowing what you know today?  This is the  time of true freedom -it's never too late to have a happy childhood, or  a happy life.

Like millions of other starry eyed , idealistic young women I joined the business world in the late 70’ during a time of tremendous sea change…women in the work force. I enjoyed a number of interesting and challenging positions in a variety of well-known Fortune 500 companies, working my way up through the ranks to senior management, primarily in talent management, training and leadership.  As 2/3 of all North Americans do, I  always had a yearning for the chance to stretch my entrepreneurial muscles. After an exciting post in the Toronto Mayor’s office in Economic Development, decided to take the leap more than ten years ago!

What a ride this has been!  I have honed my skills, in sales and marketing, oh and basic survival!

Committed to lifelong learning and full engagement  in living life to the fullest,  I find as the years pass, the more curious I become. Hence my desire to bring you

resources and people from many different places and life stories.

It has definitely become apparent to me that the more I learn, how much more there is to grow, learn and develop. That is exciting to me! People describe me as  bodacious and bold in my thinking and vision. I do believe I am  high energy,  laugh easily, have a positive earthy optimism and a world view.

Definitely a believer that " dreams come true!" How could I not when the biggest life adventure ( so far) happened when I met Tom Spindler  at Disney in Orlando and it was love at first sight! I married for the first time at 50, and found myself moving to Minneapolis Minnesota from Toronto Canada.

New marriage, new city, new country!

“ Life is a daring adventure or nothing”, is a favorite quote of mine by Helen Keller, and oh yes, I referred to it countless times throughout this transition.

My association with the University of Minnesota and The Purpose Project is all about winning in the second half of Life.  Grand principles with great significance to me personally as  I've made the courageous decisions to take bold steps and dramatically change my life's  directions. The confidence that comes from taking the leap has only opened up my eyes to the wondrous new adventures available to those who dare to leap in the direction of their dreams.

Inspiration can come in many different forms.

I believe if you keep your eyes and heart open, even the smallest ideas, influences or dreams can have a huge impact on the direction of your life.
