- Do you love to fail?
I was reminded today about one of my favorite topics….and it applies whole-heartedly to the process of learning web 2.0 technology.
So, a few questions for you:
What is more effective when trying to get a result, research and determination of the best path to get the result, or, do just a little research, try something, and then when it doesn't work, try something else? (…)

- Technology: Help or Hindrance?
As watched Oprah's first webinar event tonight, I was reminded about some of the humor we all must have as we work to learn and use new technology. I have worked hard to keep my sense of humor as I continue to work toward my "Boomer Chick, Media Mavin" goal!
As I watched Eckhart Tolle's video image freeze mid-sentence, mouth contorted in some pose, I am sure his "Ego" would not like….that is if he let his Ego be too present (read the book if you don't get this……Ego is talked about a lot in the early chapters), it struck me that many times as we advance technology, it does not always work quite the way we hoped. And sometimes, we cannot "bench test" all the bugs out of technology……we just need to be ready to adapt and be flexible as we implement…..even with excellent preparation. (…)

- Media Maven Boomer Chick learnings….lesson #2 videos
I really need to post more items to this category as I learn. As most of us know, adult learners learn most through experience. So, as I embarked on this web world of delivering information, I am learning pretty much daily through the creation of this site.
So, here are some recent learnings in the last week. It all started with a desire to post a "welcome video" to our site. Elizabeth and I used my little Flip video camera on a tripod to shoot the main part of the video. I had learned a year ago how to create a video from a combination of phots and video files using Pinnacle…..so I added on front and end material with that program.
Then the question, how large should our video be? What format is best for posting on our website? We had posted the "lemons" video on one of Elizabeth's posts very easily, so I tried to follow the same method for posting our welcome video to our home page. And VOILA, it did NOT work.
So, from there I started digging. I found that when you have website, you can have a "secure webdisk" which is loaded to your own computer desktop by your website hosting company. This webdisk is basically a network window into your files on your host's computers. On the help information with our website it gave the filepath to drag and drop the video file into a subfolder of the "Media" folder on our webdisk. When I did this, I could see the video file loaded….great! (…)

- Intro: Boomer Chicks; Web Mavins
Wow, what a fun and learning filled journey. Here we are in January 2008. Just 9 months ago, I was a regular web user….Googling everything from jewelry auctions to historical facts to friends and family. I love the internet and had some awareness of inTRAnets from my previous career.
So, with my friend Elizabeth, we decided to embark on an Odyssey…..both entrepreneurial and technology driven.
So, here, 9 months later, with a blog and a company website set up…..with the blog customized, I have learned a ton. But the thing that I have learned most that I think will be useful to others is that the web world has great tools that are user friendly to us non-techies. ANYONE can set up a professional web page and/or blog without need for a web developer. Yes, I do see that if our business grows, that we might want to have a professional web developer assist us.
