- How absurd to call it a Midlife "Crisis"…
I went on YouTube tonight…..to create a channel out there for NewPRimeTime.com. I searched on "midlife" and the suggested search terms that pop up are all related to: "midlife crisis". If you search on Google…same thing. No wonder that the historical connotation of "midlife" has a negative feel. (…)

- What will you say when you are 90?
I recently read Viktor Frankl's masterpiece Man's Search for Meaning. I am a bit ashamed that I had not read it before for a couple of reasons:
1) It is one of the top 25 most influential books as noted by the Library of Congress. (…)

- Is Leptin key to managing weight?
Hi, we have seen more and more about the impact of Leptin on weight management. The theory….which has been supported now by various studies… is that Leptin is a hormone that is link to signaling the brain to want us to consume more. In particular for frequent dieters, Leptin levels are reduced…explaning why frequent dieters "ping-pong" their weight up and down in a frustrating battle with themselves. (…)

- Don't pursue Happiness?
I had the pleasure yesterday of listening to a lecture by Matthieu Ricard, renowned buddhist monk, writer, etc. He was brought to us here in the Twin Cities by Ruth Stricker in unison with the University of Minnesota Center for Spirituality & Healing. Because I have contemplated "happiness" myself, I found his perspectives….."enlightening"…..I guess as they should be! (…)

- Do you love to fail?
I was reminded today about one of my favorite topics….and it applies whole-heartedly to the process of learning web 2.0 technology.
So, a few questions for you:
What is more effective when trying to get a result, research and determination of the best path to get the result, or, do just a little research, try something, and then when it doesn't work, try something else? (…)

- What is more important: the journey or destination?
I participated in a strategic planning session for a small non-profit which develops women's leadership in philanthropy and at the same is a "giving circle" in the Twin Cities….Women of Courage. Over the course of 4+ hours, a small group of volunteer members wrestled, with the aid of a facilitator, about some of our fundamental principles, all for the worthy cause of determining our future direction and steps to develop our organization toward the next level.
As a basis for our discussion, about 1/2 of our members had submitted their thoughts via a survey and a small planning group had framed up some external demographics and historical informaiton about Women of Courage.
The day started with various opinions being stated and our facilitator patiently keep in on course with the "process".
I of course had my opinions also
As the morning evolved, I was reminded of one of the most important tenets for getting the most out of a group of people:
Have patience with the process. This is not a natural born strength for me. I have a knack for assessing a situation, and determining where the desitnation is pretty quickly. My observation over many years of experience leading and being part of groups is that my "assessment" is NOT always correct. The "destinations" that I have been part of reaching which have been MOST FULFILLING, are those in which the final desitnation/result was different from ANY of the individual assessments that members of the group had assessed. The most fulfilling results are those which have been allowed to be shaped by the "journey" and which have the imprint of all contributing members of a team.
How many other "journeys" that we have had in our careers, or in other aspects of our lives have brought more satisfaction and fulfillment than the actual destination to which we were driving? (…)

- Technology: Help or Hindrance?
As watched Oprah's first webinar event tonight, I was reminded about some of the humor we all must have as we work to learn and use new technology. I have worked hard to keep my sense of humor as I continue to work toward my "Boomer Chick, Media Mavin" goal!
As I watched Eckhart Tolle's video image freeze mid-sentence, mouth contorted in some pose, I am sure his "Ego" would not like….that is if he let his Ego be too present (read the book if you don't get this……Ego is talked about a lot in the early chapters), it struck me that many times as we advance technology, it does not always work quite the way we hoped. And sometimes, we cannot "bench test" all the bugs out of technology……we just need to be ready to adapt and be flexible as we implement…..even with excellent preparation. (…)

- Media Maven Boomer Chick learnings….lesson #2 videos
I really need to post more items to this category as I learn. As most of us know, adult learners learn most through experience. So, as I embarked on this web world of delivering information, I am learning pretty much daily through the creation of this site.
So, here are some recent learnings in the last week. It all started with a desire to post a "welcome video" to our site. Elizabeth and I used my little Flip video camera on a tripod to shoot the main part of the video. I had learned a year ago how to create a video from a combination of phots and video files using Pinnacle…..so I added on front and end material with that program.
Then the question, how large should our video be? What format is best for posting on our website? We had posted the "lemons" video on one of Elizabeth's posts very easily, so I tried to follow the same method for posting our welcome video to our home page. And VOILA, it did NOT work.
So, from there I started digging. I found that when you have website, you can have a "secure webdisk" which is loaded to your own computer desktop by your website hosting company. This webdisk is basically a network window into your files on your host's computers. On the help information with our website it gave the filepath to drag and drop the video file into a subfolder of the "Media" folder on our webdisk. When I did this, I could see the video file loaded….great! (…)

- You can't make appointments with your teenager
For those of you who don't know my background, I worked in "corporate America" in the thrilling, fast-paced medical device industry for over 20 years. When I decided to embark on a new "career"….starting with "retirement" from my old career, I left with lots of appreciation of all of those thrilling years and thought I might miss that world. Heck, who wouldn't want platinum airline status repeatedly over the years! (…)
