Check out new research for maximizing Twitter "exposure"
Hi, I know that many of you are using Facebook and Twitter to get connected and promote your business. I just saw this great article in Fast Company which gives us a preview into a study that is being released tomorrow about Twitter.
I am RELIEVED to announce that proper use of the English language is NOT dead even though our teenage and young adult friends seem to use "text speak" in much of their written conversation.
The article is titled: "9 Scientifically Proven Ways to get Retweeted on Twitter"
ONE of the things that the study found (by Hubspot scientist Dan Zarella) was that people will take more notice of "Tweets" that do NOT abbreviate with what I refer to as "texting shorthand".
He studied 5 million tweets and 40 million retweets….so I would say his sample is pretty substantial to give those of wanting to cut to the chase and maximize our use real guidance!!
Other findings (besides that punctuation is not dead and using words with more than 1 syllable is NOT a bad thing
)
Link shortening tool bit.ly is most retweetable.
Best time to Tweet? Friday afternoon.
It does pay to ASK nicely for retweets (I always tell my kids, it NEVER hurts to ask!)
Idle Chit-chat is not enjoyed by most AND people like NEWS….and original thought.
So, here is the link to the Fast Company so you can check it out yourself and if you are REALLY intrigued, the 22 page report should be out tomorrow.
Have a great day!
Barb
