Social Media Learnings & Teachings from the Past 2 days
Hi Everyone!
We had a load of FUN with our participants on our live teleseminars Wed and Thursday for our "Social Media in Plain English" teleseminar.
If anyone wants to still get this teleseminar, we are still providing access to the REPLAY EVENT….so join us!
Here is the registration page: http://newprimetime.com/soc-media0513
We had Dr. Patrick Williams join us for BOTH sessions and since he is, like many of us, embarking on Twitter, Facebook, and Linked In, Ning, etc…it was great to have his questions and comment along the way.
If you want to check out more about Pat and the Non-profit that benefited from these sessions: Coaching the Global Village.org…here are links:

So, we ALWAYS learn from our students….most of what we learn is WHAT is really important….or confusing to people as they embark on the web.
Here is one topic that seemed to have LOTS of Interest:
–>People think that "following" lots of people and having a lot of "followers" on Twitter will be overwhelming and will eat up lots of time.
I look at Twitter with my 1000+ followers as a kind of a "USA TODAY" newspaper. There are lots of little articles…and I can choose to peruse them and choose to interact with those that I find interesting.
Also, Twitter has now made SEARCHING for "tweets" by topic VERY EASY. You can search in 3 different ways:
1) Go to www.search.twitter.com
2) Use the "search" field on the right hand side of your "home" screen.
3) Click on the word "search" way down on on the bottom list of options….scroll way to the bottom of the Twitter screen…
With 1400 people that I am following, I LOVE to search on topics that I am interested in….and looking at the corresponding "Tweet" stream.
Really, when I go into Twitter, I spend 5-10 minutes and I GET a lot of value.…learn lots, connect with people about our stuff and theirs….it really is a neat connection tool.
I hope this insight helps some of you!!!

I agree with you. Twitter has been the most exciting, easiest social media program I've ever been a part of. You can put as much or as little time (whatever you have) into participating and the benefits are endless. Thank you for the "search" tips. I didn't know that. I learn something new about Twitter all the time. Thank you for the article.
Thanks Paula! I find so many people talking it down because I don't think they have really tried it….nor put in some of the simple tools that can help administer it with minimal time.

Hi Barb,
Thank you for pointing out the 3 different ways to search twitter.
I'm still not sure about how to properly use twitter and also wonder about how much spam is going on there.
The big competition seems to be who can get the largest amount of followers.
Posts like yours are helping me to find the good things about twitter.
