Facebook has updated its "Pages"…
Hi All! IT is a very blustery day here in Minnesota….JUST to remind us that the first day of Spring is not until NEXT week!
Well, I was playing out on Facebook and saw that they JUST added some new functionality and features to their "Page" tool.
So, I thought I would link to it here AND provide a refresher for our Midlife New Media Newbies who should be embarking on using this great connection tool!
As a reminder, you can be "present" on Facebook in a few different ways.
1) Most people have a "Profile" this is the most common way to use it. You can update your status, add pictures, videos, etc. and you have lots of control over your profile and what aspects of it are seen by the public, your networks, your friends, etc. Most people who want to use Facebook and engage with others have a "Profile"….it is the standard default presence when you create a Facebook account. And you connect with others by asking them to be "Friends" and accepting others as your "Friend".
2) Then you can be part of a "Group". A Facebook Group is kind of like a virtual conference room. People carry on discussions around a theme….usually the purpose for which the particular "Group" was created. For example, we have created a Facebook Group "New Media Midlife Newbie Friends of NewPrimeTime.com" Feel free to join and get a conversation going!!! Groups can be open or closed. Closed groups need to be applied to and an administrator will "accept" you in if you fit in the group.
3) Then last fall, Facebook added "Pages"...which were created for people who wanted to showcase their business. A lot of public figures have Facebook Pages also (Like Barack Obama and The Oprah Winfrey TV Show). Pages are designed to have information about your business and are kind of like a mini-website. You would engage with someone's Page by becoming a "Fan". Fans can write comments and post information that is allowed by the Page administrator. You can check out the new NewPrimeTime.com Facebook Page by clicking here (you may need to log-in to Facebook to get to it).
Well, Pages have just been improved with a bunch of new features. If you want to read about them, Facebook created a nice downloadable instruction book. Click here to get it!
I hope you find this summary and the new info useful. Get using your Social Media!!! The best way to learn is to start DOING!!!
