What do you know about marketing to the midlife women's market?

Even if you think you know a lot, it just might not be enough.
Check this out:

  • According to the last U.S. census, the fastest-growing market is people 50 years and older.
  • Right now, that's about 37 percent of the total U.S. population. By 2015, it should hit 45 percent.
  • Nearly 30 percent of us are on the Internet.

This number is growing quickly (take a look at who is taking the one on one classes at your neighborhood Apple store.)
Not to mention an incredible 80 percent of 50+ are in the top income bracket! (even after the meltdown!)

How much money do we have?

  • About 70 percent of all the disposable income in the U.S. Around $1.6 trillion.
  • Overall, we have a combined household net worth of around $19 trillion.
  • The over-50 crowd – just in the U.S. alone -spends about $7 billion per year online.

(those that don't yet, Barb and I are teaching how to join this new world!)
We also buy 40 percent of all new cars, 80 percent of all new luxury cars.

Our own proof of this..(BARB drives a mini cooper AND an ACURA SUV) (I drive a BMW),

  • We also buy 74 percent of all prescription drugs, and…
  • 80 percent of all leisure travel.
  • And this same crowd – close to 75 percent of them are grandparents – buy 25 percent of the toys sold in the U.S. (Barb and I aren't there yet!)

To lump together everyone in the "older generation" is to include every race… every economic, religious, and political background…

…every level of income… you name it.

Almost every marketing niche in existence somehow overlaps with the 50+ set.
And it's about to get even more diverse…

Look for part two tomorrow!
