Time Shifting….friend or foe?
One of the wonderful benefits of the new media world is that you can offer and take in great content whenever you want.
In our work with Paul Colligan and Alex Mandossian, it is wonderful to be able to shift my time around and listen and view training classes whenever I want.
How many of us have a favorite radio show…..or tv shows that we go to on the web and take in when we want.
However, it is all about taking the time to actually go into it and listen.
While being bombarded with emails, news sites, tv, radio, daily life, I find it difficult to get back to that training that I thought I would take…..when I had more time.
The REAL tough question is When will I have more time? Or, when will I have the discipline to avoid the procrastination of putting off my training that is flexible?
So, I am taking a new attitude. I find for myself in my current busy life, that I am BETTER at attending trainings if I schedule it in and plan to take it in live.
Yes, I have taken time management classes….many of them. I even taught time management classes in my former Corporate existence. But I am a work-in-progress with time management in my more flexible existence of Corporate Refugee/Mom/Home Remodeler…..in which I have visions of being able to do it all and be on top of everything in my life.
I think that all the wonderful flexibility that technology gives us also give us noise…..and we do need to become more disciplined to take advantage and stay focused on what is most important.
