"The longer I live the more beautiful Life becomes!"
A wonderful quote by Frank Lloyd Wright. Found it this morning directly above the cover story in our local Star Tribune and the photo of a couple jogging around Lake Harriott in a winter wonderland. Here in Minnesota, the frozen North of the Midwest, that means we are digging out from the 10" + of fresh snow that has fallen upon us -at the beginning of Spring Break!
What really caught my attention was the image of the couple jogging in the snow….and it begs the question…why? Many people are whining about "will winter ever end?" The question isn't wrong and yet the more birthdays I celebrate the easier it is for me to reframe the question. Spring will come. It is inevitable. It is the cycle of life.
The image of the wintry jog made me realize that this is a great example of my current mantra of "making the right choices not necessarily the easy choices!"
What is the compelling reason to go outside at all? This question fits in
with my currrent theme of the intrinsic value of "moving your butts" off the couch and lacing up those running shoes to get moving! No buts allowed! No excuses!
In fact as I'm writing these words, I'm making my own plans to go for a glorious walk in the fresh snow with my favorite guy, my husband Tom.
What I know for sure is I will feel better.
I will have strengthened my esteem as I will have nourished my body.
I will enjoy the fresh air because I have been sitting for the past few hours, in front of a crackling fire writing my articles for the upcoming week.
I will enjoy the contemplative nature of my walk AND it will renew and refresh my spirit.
Since I am now committed to "feeling good, making a difference, having fun and enjoying life" (all taglines of our new primetime.com business) then I will make the right decision to get outside, move aside any "buts" and get my "butt" outdoors!
Why not join me?
