What does weight have to do with living on purpose?
According to a recent survey in USA Today, for millions of boomers it has a lot to do with living on purpose or at least living the dream of a healthy lifestyle.
For 65% of the Boomers surveyed in this study, losing weight was their #1 aspiration to accomplish before they die.
What?
Everyone involved in the study was stunned.
Common assumption would be that the boomers would list… travel the world, climb the Himalayas, become a millionaire, buy a Porsch but no…the majority of men and women wanted to reach their goal of losing weight and being fit.
This survey was in response to the new big question facing Boomers today.
How much time do I have left here on the planet?
If I'm one of the lucky ones, I'm just hitting the midpoint of my life.
All I know is that according to the Longevity Factor, we have at least 15 more years smack in the middle of our lives that no other generation has EVER had before.
We do get to enjoy a time of freedom that we have never had before. I know that there is a mis perception that youth is a time of freedom…NO it is not. All those fears, all those things we've had to work out…more on that topic on a later blog…
Midlife is a mysterious time.
The first half is all about going up the hill…
now we are at the top and what is just over the top on the other side is a great mystery.
We are pioneers here.
We are definitely going to change the perception that all there is in the cycle of life is an ascent
then a sharp decline into old age.
So no surprise to me that many of us recognize the need to really start being vigilant about caring for our bodies to maintain that vitality and energy.
I find that I must move my body more than I ever imagined just to maintain my strength and flexibility.
The biggest surprise to me since I embarked on this new habit of moving every day…
is the more I exercise, the more my body craves it…go figure?
So today I say to each of you……move your body!
If you live here in Midwest like I do….or the North..bundle up and still get outside…or just put on your
favorite boogie music and dance as if your life depends on it-
guess what, it does!
